How to reach tirthan valley ?

Planning a road trip is the most suitable way to reach Tirthan Valley if you are coming from a central location like Delhi.

Alternatively, you can take a train to Ambala or Kiratpur and then catch a bus or book a taxi to reach the destination.

Bhuntar is the nearest airport, two hours ride away from Tirthan Valley, if you plan to travel by air.

Alternatively, you can take a bus from Delhi or Chandigarh till Aut which is 19 km before Bhuntar and 3 hours from Manali and then take a cab or a local bus to Banjar or Jibhi.

The distance between Aut to Tirthan Valley is 30 km and it will cost you around 800 – 1000 INR. The local bus will charge you INR 40 -50.

Travelling to Tirthan is an exciting experience with a great number of routes to choose from.

The primary route is along the Manali highway (NH03), via Chandigarh, where you will get to witness the stunning mountain terrain and beautiful views of Gobind Sagar Lake near Bilaspur.

After Aut, you will turn off the NH03, cross Sainj river and drive alongside Tirthan river.

Keep following the river till you take the turn a kilometre before Banjar and you are in the Tirthan valley.

This trip is 480km (10-12 hours) from Delhi and 265km (7 hours) from Chandigarh. For those interested in an alternative scenic route, there is one via Shimla, which is longer – 525km and 13 ½ hours from Delhi.

This route allows you to cross Jalori Pass but it can be cut off in bad weather so it’s important to check beforehand.

A third route is via Kangra valley that runs on NH154 from Pathankot via Nurpur and Palampur to Mandi and then follows the main NH03.

If you have travelled from Pathankot, Dharamshala or Joginder Nagar, then it will take 8 ½ hours, 6 hours and 4 hours respectively to reach Tirthan. Taxi fare for these routes range between ₹6000-₹18000 depending on the type of car and the origin point.

By Bus

The Himachal Tourism (HTPDC) Volvo bus is the recommended option for traveling from Delhi to Manali.

It is a reliable, safe and comfortable way to get to your destination.

The cost of the overnight bus is ₹1500 and takes 13 hours from Delhi.
